Hi There:

When my family doctor told me I had to see a kidney specialist I was shocked. The doctor said "Well you should have expected it with your diabetes." I wanted to smack him. I am scared but he did not care.

AID = autoimmune disease. Sorry about that! And sorry for not commenting sooner.

I'm nervous about the autoimmune disorder attacking a new kidney.

A lupus flare powered out my one and only kidney.  Dialysis for 3 months. Hoping to gain transplant info soon.

Hi everyone, I had my kidney transplant 14 years ago (when I was 15) and I am doing very well right now. I also do not know why my kidneys failed (may have been from Ecoli) but I was diagnosed with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis.

I have a transplant for 3 years now. They are not 100% why my kidney failed but they think its autoimmune related. I did have a plasm exchange and IVIG two days before and 2 or 3 days after my transplant.

Erica what does AID stand for?

Has anyone with an autoimmune disorder had a successful transplant? We don't know what caused my immune system to attack my kidneys, as none of the usual suspects can be pinpointed. I have 'flare ups' which cause my kidney function to plummet quickly. I'm currently doing transplant work up, but I'm nervous about the AID. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Sorry everyone I am a bad creator for this group!  I am doing school part time and working full time so I am not always online but I have the summer off.  Any suggestions for discussion topics?
