Ten Things I Would Have Missed Out On Had My Kidneys Not Failed

Posted on June 3, 2015 at 23:30 10 Comments

1.  Knowing from experience that health is an incredible gift

Who thinks of health as a gift when healthy?  I never did. Health was something I took for granted, something I deserved.  Health was par for the course, standard practice, basic requirement.  It wasn’t until health was taken away that…

One Year Post Transplant

Wow.  It's May 28, 2015.

One year ago today, I woke up from an operation that made a massively significant difference in my life.  That morning I had a total kidney function of 5% but by the afternoon, that had gone up to a whopping 50%.

My beautiful wife donated…

Tim - As a fellow dialysis patient, I found your article to be true to life and really well written. I think what you're doing by sharing your experiences from the beginning is GREAT. Not only for others to understand or at least get some understanding of what dialysis patients go through but, for you "mentally" as the patient. It can truly be a rough go, but attitude is everything. And, if you have a strong support system you are that much luckier. I wish you all the best and look forward to more posts!

Thank you for this blog. I'm 25 yeard old and I've been on dialysis since August of last year and this article describes it perfectly. No one will truly how it feels until that person is sitting in that chair. A lot of people at work see me as "healthy" but they don't see the part where the massive headaches start or when blood pressure drops. The line that meant the most to me is "I'm not dead!".. Thanks again and best of luck with getting your transplant. God Bless,
