"Hi again Patti, So it sounds like you have a few things that are impacting your quality of life. I hear you about the lack of energy for sure! Exercise is a good thing done "low & slow" for the CKD and your AF/use of beta-blocker. I…"

"Hi Loretta, I believe that the general consensus is to keep working if you feel up to it. Possibly you could reduce your hours or days, or a combination of both? Depends on your employer, of course. Personally, I worked a 9 or 10 hour day five days…"

Hi Loretta,

So your cadaver kidney lasted 17 years? That is indeed a blessing as I was under the impression it does'nt last that long! I was diagnosed with Ig A Nephropathy in 2010 and it has been downhill since then. I was not very keen on a transplant initially as since Ig A is an autoimmune disorder, there is no guarantee the immune system will not attack the transplanted kidney. The Dr told us there is a 30% chance of that happening as the immune system will be suppressed with drugs to prevent rejection in any case. I just turned 52 years old in March and was working in the oil patch as a Process Engineer but got laid off in mid February!! You are in Edmonton right? I am in Calgary but my wife has 2 aunts in Edmonton. Since I am off work,I have been resting at home as I dont sleep too well at night. I am on all sorts of medications to control my blood pressure which along with the PD is contributing to my insomnia!! I like to read and love watching soccer and other sports on TV. I am originally from India,so like to watch cricket on the internet too.I used to love hiking and playing badminton too but now my health does not allow it...

Hope things work out for you with a new transplant rather than going back to dialysis...

Hi Loretta,

Thank you for the "welcome hello". I am doing ok I guess. I have been on peritoneal dialysis since the past 3 years now and am just waiting to get a transplant from a cadaver if one becomes available... I joined a little while ago but have not really posted anything.Feel tired all the time... Last month I got a call from the hospital to say a kidney had become available but I was on standby to receive it,if things did'nt work out with the original recipient. It was a nerve racking time but in the end,I was not called in as things worked out for the intended recipient! Now just waiting my turn I guess...
